MFC Series Wireless Setup Guide (Windows & Mac)

Complete step-by-step guide to connect your MFC all-in-one printer to WiFi and configure wireless printing, scanning, and fax.

Method 1: App-Guided Setup (Recommended)

Using the official setup app or installer is the fastest and most reliable way to get your MFC printer printing wirelessly.

Step 1 – Prepare the Printer

  • Remove all protective tape and packaging materials from inside and outside the printer
  • Open the ink cartridge cover and install all included cartridges — each clicks into place
  • Load plain white paper in the paper tray
  • Connect the power cord and press the Power button
  • Follow any on-screen prompts on the touchscreen (language, date, time)

Step 2 – Download the Driver or iPrint&Scan

Visit support.brother.com, search your MFC model number, and download the Full Driver & Software Package for Windows or Mac. On mobile, search "Brother iPrint&Scan" in the App Store or Google Play.

Step 3 – Run the Installer

  1. Run the downloaded installer and accept the license agreement
  2. When asked for connection type, select Wireless Network Connection (Wi-Fi)
  3. Follow the on-screen steps — the installer will guide you through the full process
  4. Keep the printer powered on and near your router during setup

Step 4 – Connect to WiFi

  1. The installer will prompt you to select your WiFi network from a list
  2. Select your 2.4GHz network and enter your WiFi password
  3. Alternatively, set up WiFi directly on the printer: go to Settings → Network → WLAN → Setup Wizard
  4. The WiFi indicator will show a solid signal when the printer is connected

Step 5 – Print a Test Page

After installation, print a test page from the installer prompt, or from Settings → Print Reports → Network Configuration on the printer. A successful printout confirms your MFC is ready.

Method 2: WPS Button Setup

MFC printers support WPS for quick WiFi connection — no password entry needed on the printer.

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to Settings → Network → WLAN → WPS w/ Push Button.
  2. Select Push Button and press OK on the printer screen.
  3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
  4. The printer's WiFi indicator will turn solid — it is now connected.
  5. On Windows: go to Settings → Printers & scanners → Add device and select your MFC.
WPS not working? Some routers have WPS disabled. Log into your router admin panel (usually 192.168.1.1) and enable WPS, then retry. If unavailable, use Method 1 instead.

Troubleshooting MFC Setup Issues

MFC: Printer not found on the network

  • Ensure both your computer and printer are on the same 2.4GHz WiFi network
  • Temporarily disable Windows Firewall or your antivirus and retry
  • Restart the printer and your router, then re-run the installer
  • Try the WPS setup method as an alternative

MFC: Can't scan wirelessly

  • Ensure the iPrint&Scan app is installed on your computer
  • In the app, select your MFC from the printer list and click Scan
  • If the scanner is not listed, reinstall the full driver package from support.brother.com
  • On Windows, verify that the Brother MFC Scan service is running in Services

MFC: MFC offline after setup

  • Set the MFC as your Default Printer in Windows Printer Settings
  • Right-click the printer and uncheck Use Printer Offline if visible
  • Restart the Print Spooler service from Windows Services
  • If the issue persists, remove the printer and re-add it
